Resultat
The outcomes of the AU roundtable and the recommendations document have served and continue to serve as a critical advocacy tool and anchor for ongoing and upcoming advocacy activities co-created and in collaboration with civil society organisations working on Ethiopia. The outcomes have been key in the delivery of recent advocacy activities Crisis Action has spearheaded with partners including the following: - It informed the framing and messages of a live webinar on Ethiopia that Crisis Action facilitated with partners and hosted by South Africas Daily Maverick on 16 February 2023. The webinar, led by two of our partners who attended the roundtable meeting, featured a rich conversation on the AU peace process, highlighting grave stakes of the peace process and overlooked aspects such as the conflicts outside of the Tigray region. - It formed the basis of a virtual follow up meeting which Crisis Action convened on 8th February 2023 bringing together pan-African partners who attended the roundtable to concretize practical short-term and long-term advocacy actions to contribute to the peacebuilding efforts. -- Crisis Action will be convening a global partners call on 2nd March 2023 bringing together international partners to update them on the AU roundtable outcomes and current initiatives in the pipeline, to align on
The overall objective of the Project is to conduct a SWOT analysis of the AU-led mediation and identify how civil society can contribute towards Ethiopias peace efforts. The specific expected output/outcomes are: - A SWOT analysis on the AU mediation is developed as a tool for future campaign work. - Civil society actors gain deeper insights into the trends, dynamics, gaps, and opportunities of the AU mediation and how these insights can be leveraged for civil society campaign efforts. - Participants harvest lessons from other peace agreements and infuse them into the campaign on Ethiopia - A CSO coalition that feels connected with a shared agenda towards campaign and advocacy work on Ethiopia - The AU mediation is strengthened through the analysis and advocacy results by the civil society campaign on Ethiopia.
