The contribution concerns a joint programming initiative between UNDP, UN Women and UNFPA, The programme is a continuation and a previous program from 2012 – 2015. The UN agencies are responsible for one component each and the agreement is signed with UNDP. UN Women will have the role as a convening agent to strengthen coordination between the UN agencies. The content and planned results of the components are as follows. UNDP is responsible for component 1 which aims at enhanced women’s political and economic empowerment and includes activities related to the Inter-Agency Human Rights Council, vocational training for women and support to women local councilors. UN Women is responsible for component 2 , which aims at creating an enabling environment to eliminate violence against women and girls, especially sexual violence and domestic violence. The component will include activities to support the work of the police and prosecutors office and the creation of two new shelters. UNFPA is responsible for component 3 with the aim to advance gender equality and reproductive rights, including for the most vulnerable women, adolescents and youth. This component includes for example work with the inclusion of sexual health information in school curriculum, support to the Public Defender’s Office to monitor sexual and reproductive rights and advocacy campaigns which a special focus on men and fatherhood. All components include activities on national local and grassroots level and will have a holistic approach working with policy advocacy, strengthening national systems and public advocacy.
