During spring of 2019, the Embassy engaged in extensive discussions with Forum Syd regarding the future of the Swedish Somalia Business Programme. After a thorough appraisal process, the quality assurance committee decided to not recommend the contribution for approval. This was based on two main conclusions; 1) the programme was not cost-effective enough and 2) Forum Syd is not considered as being the best-suited actor to implement a PSD-programme in Somalia. The Embassy then approved a phase out period of the programme to safeguard the results achieved so far. ForumCiv handed in a final narrative for the programme period 1 April 2016 to 31 October 2020 report including a results matrix and a list of all grantees. The narrative report provides sufficient information to document and assess the results of the intervention. The overall objective of the programme was; Productive job creation in Somalia through increased private sector investment and business development. The programme has supported the establishment of 40 companies across Somalia which has led to 492 new jobs.
