The programme aims to build and strengthen social, climate, and economic resilience, accelerating the shift from humanitarian aid to long-term sustainable development, increasing the ability of communities to absorb, adapt, and transform in the face of recurrent shocks and stresses. The programme will integrate a market systems development approach with a locally led development philosophy, building the capacity of communities and civil society organizations to direct private sector investments in sustainable and resilient agriculture and livelihoods while building social cohesion to promote resilience and sustainability. Objective: Social integration, sustainable and resilient livelihoods, and improved management of natural resources for communities throughout the Beira Corridor, ensuring the full economic and social participation of DDRs, IDPs, youth, and women, while reducing vulnerability and risk of future conflict. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE 1: SOCIAL RESILIENCE Vulnerable individuals live in community and are integrated into society through existing local structures, group activities and spaces for dialogue. Therefore, by building ownership and control over their resources, as well as creating access to economic opportunities that are satisfactory and respect their basic human rights and dignity, they will be more resilient and less susceptible to conflict and internal displacement. Social resilience describes a community with high levels of social cohesion and integration, where marginalization and exclusion are low or non-existent, and opportunity is not constrained by age, gender, or political affiliation. The programme will pursue social resilience through several key interventions: strengthening social structures; integrating vulnerable groups; securing tenures and assets. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE 2: CLIMATE RESILIENCE Widespread availability and adoption at household and individual levels of environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient on-farm, off-farm and non-farm activities that are income generating for increased food security, nutrition as well as ability to mitigate and/or adapt against climatic shocks and disasters. Building climate resilience in the Beira Corridor requires not just protecting local communities from short-term climate-induced shocks, but creating sustainable and durable agricultural and entrepreneurial ecosystems capable of generating a surplus of nutritious food and income, ensuring that communities are better prepared to absorb future shocks, and can adapt to a changing climate through improved approaches to agriculture and diversified income strategies. Interventions will cover climate smart agriculture; income diversification; and reducing vulnerability to shocks building the capacity of local civil society organizations in planning for and responding to humanitarian crises at the local level, in alignment with humanitarian principles and standards. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE 3: ECONOMIC RESILIENCE Individuals, communities and market actors have increased capacities and resources to operate efficiently, increase their incomes, build assets and be linked to relevant wider markets and vulnerable households, therefore increasing community/systemic preparedness against climatic shocks and market fluctuations. Ultimately a core aim of this programme is to create a pathway toward equitable and sustainable economic prosperity for the targeted communities. By building resilient market ecosystems, supported by an engaged private sector investing in durable supply chains designed to serve systemically excluded communities, Triple Resilience will foster a variety of sustainable and prosperous economic opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness, livestock, value-added goods and services, retail, and more. interventions will cover: market strengthening; access to finance; private sector engagement.

The programme aims to build and strengthen social, climate, and economic resilience, accelerating the shift from humanitarian aid to long-term sustainable development, increasing the ability of communities to absorb, adapt, and transform in the face of recurrent shocks and stresses. The proposed programme will integrate a market systems development approach with a locally led development philosophy, building the capacity of communities and civil society organizations to direct private sector investments in sustainable and resilient agriculture and livelihoods while building social cohesion to promote resilience and sustainability. Objective: Social integration, sustainable and resilient livelihoods, and improved management of natural resources for communities throughout the Beira Corridor, ensuring the full economic and social participation of DDRs, IDPs, youth, and women, while reducing vulnerability and risk of future conflict. The programme will be implemented from February 2023 to December 2027.
