HD Innovative Mediation Initiative 2022-april 2025

The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD) was established in 2000 and is one of the world's leading mediation organisations with 55 projects in over 40 countries/conflict contexts. Mediation and peacemaking efforts are very delicate and difficult, they often take place in hostile environments and are most commonly very political. Sida assesses that HD is a partner with recognized capacity in the field of mediation and that the proposed programme would make a valuable contribution to mediation and peacemaking and to the flexibility of our current Strategy for Sustainable Peace This new phase will include thematic support to; 1. Environmental peacemaking 2. Gender-responsive and inclusive peacemaking 3. Digital conflict mediation The geographic support will include support to dialogue in; Togo, South Sudan, Kosovo-Serbia and a flexible envelope. The set up will continue to be of a flexible nature. Meaning that the programme document sets the broader framework of the thematic focus and also the geographic focus intended but certainly the geographic focus will be dynamic given the importance to seize opportunities of political momentum in one context which can not be foreseen in advance. And then to move resources and attention there from more frozen conflicts/political stalemates. But also to enter rapidly into and test frontline thematics as they occur. As such, it is also then a very innovative support. The amount provided will be a total of 55 million SEK over 3 years.
