Result
1-Increased technical knowledge in three thematic areas: international standards in providing legal and PSS services and support to victims of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG); gender sensitive constitution making and legislation. 2- A widened number of activists and Civil Society Organizations (CSO)s have advanced skills to advocate for WR and monitor their implementation. 3- CSOs are better organized and have reached out to Syrian communities and stakeholders (inside and outside Syria) to raise knowledge and public awareness on women's rights and gender equality. 4- Enhanced capacities of gender and legal expertise of the pool of lawyers and of Human Rights and Women's Rights (HRWR) activists in analyzing and drafting laws. 5- Development of a set of tools used to enable and support amending discriminatory legislation. The tools aim at influencing the legal framework and advocating for Gender Equality, Women's rights and women's participation in politics and transitional justice, and amending the Syrian discriminatory laws. 6- Improved knowledge on Women , peace and Security agenda and a widened discussion areas and reach of the activists.
The intervention's overall objective is to enhance transition towards peace and democracy in Syria through promoting women's rights, combatting violence against women and gender discrimination, and ensuring women's role and meaningful participation at all levels of political, social and economic reconstruction processes. The specific objectives are: 1) Widen the network of Human Rights (HR) & Women's Rights (WR) partner Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to be more influential in shaping public opinion on gender equality, ending discrimination and violence against women as integral part of rebuilding Syria. 2) Developing and advocating for gender sensitive (WR) legislation is undertaken jointly by CSOs and legal experts. 3) Enhance Women's participation at all levels of peace and reconstruction processes using UNSCR 1325 and constitution building process
