The global hub is responsible for coordination of planning, implementation and monitoring of the program. \n\nThe purpose of the contribution is to contribute to qualitative research in the field of environment economics and capacity development in order to contribute to the development of plans, policies and legislation that contributes to sustainable development and poverty reduction. \n\nToday there are eleven centers in the network after EfD China at Peking University transitioned to a partner role, increasing the total number of EfD academic partners to nine. From January 2025, EfD Colombia (Research Group on Environmental, Natural Resource and Applied Economics Studies (REES) at Universidad de los Andes) will also transition to partner status. This will bring the total to eleven centers, with Chile, Central America, India, South Africa, and Vietnam hosting collaborative programs, and Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda receiving support. The number of partners will rise to ten, actively participating in research projects, fundraising, and capacity-building initiatives without direct financial support from EfD.\nIn total, people working with this make up 392 active researchers and support staff. Detta gemensamma projekt tar itu med Nigerias trängande utmaningar, inklusive överfiske, svaga rättsliga ramar, och dålig förvaltning, vilket hotar sektorns hållbarhet och livsmedelssäkerhet. Baserat EfD Ghanas expertis fick nigerianska beslutsfattare och fiskeritjänstemän utbildning i bioekonomisk analys, inklusive hur man uppskattar Maximal Sustainable Yield, för att informera om effektiv reglering av fiske. Denna praktiska utbildning, en del av EfD Nigerias bredare forskningsprojekt om att förbättra miljöpraxis inom havskattodling, tog upp viktiga utmaningar som t.ex. dålig vattenkvalitet, vilket tidigare begränsade lönsamheten. Ingripandet ledde inte endast förbättrad fiskhälsa och ekonomisk avkastning för lokala bönder utan bidrog också till nationella ansträngningar för att öka lokal fiskproduktion och minska importberoendet.
