These activities have laid the foundation of strengthening health systems in year 2.\n- In Burkina Faso, IRC focused on improving the availability and accessibility of SRH services by providing clinical trainings, supporting the supervision of district health officials, providing supplies and equipment. They trained 45 traditional birth attendants and 79 members of health facility management communities in three communes. Awareness sessions reached 2 699 people (724 men, 1975 women), including 534 IDPs. 3 joint supervisions with local authorities were conducted across 25 health facilities, involving 44 health workers (11 men, 33 women). 25 health facilities were equipped with medical equipment: blood banktype fridge, IUD kits, MVA syringes, suction cups, oxygen masks.\n- In Mali, team provided capacity building and training on SRH response targeting IRC staff but also local actors, health workers and district agents. IRC organised the first ever Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) training, as well as post abortion care training. 134 birth attendants, 50 community relays and 10 community health workers on SRH and on menstrual hygiene.\n- In Niger, IRC focused on strengthening the GBV case management and clinical management of survivors of sexual assault skills of the health and protection actors. IRC trained 40 matrons on SRHR, 120 members of women's groups, 20 women members of community-based organisations and engaged with local CSOs. IRC worked closely with local Actors: awareness of CBOs and community relays supporting survivor referrals, leading to 36 GBV survivors receiving services.\n-  In Nigeria, IRC focused on the development of the SRHR and GBV Case Management capacities of the service providers and case workers. IRC conducted trainings for 24 SRHR providers on SRHR and on values clarification and attitudes transformation. They also conducted an assessment of 6 health facilities regarding client safety, privacy and confidentiality.\n\nRESULT 2  Social and gender norms support access to SRHR in fragile settings\n\n- IRC worked closely with local CSOs, community leaders and members on transforming social norms to prevent GBV and conflict related sexual violence and to support the referral of GBV cases. IRC has observed very encouraging results with their Engaging men sessions.\n- In Burkina Faso, with the objective to promote community mobilization and changes in social norms, IRC held mass awareness-raising activities, educational talks, and recreational events in all communes, especially in safe spaces and reached 3649 community members. 139 survivors of GBV (134 women, 5 girls) received case management support, with 110 cases closed and 29 ongoing. The services included psychosocial support, medical care and legal aid (3 cases). Dignity kits were also provided to 21 survivors. \n- In Mali, IRC trained 55 community leaders on GBV and safe spaces were used for 92 SRH\u002FGBV awareness sessions for 2694 women and girls on GBV, family planning and on rights. IRC also organized activities on Engaging men in accountable practices and facilitated a training on Girl shine for 10 staff and 8 adolescent girls. 134 traditional birth attendants were trained to reach 1818 mothers in law with SRHR messaging.\n- In Niger, used the Engaging Men approach to engage men in community mobilization and change social norms. Eight facilitators for the Engaging Men\napproach were trained and to focus groups (50 men in total) were trained to discuss power, gender and GBV. 50 women from two womenled community based organisations were trained on GBV basics and advocacy to enhance their influence in the community.\n- In Nigeria, IRC organized joint awareness sessions reached 744 women and 422 adolescent girls to foster dialogue and transform harmful gender norms related to SRHR and GBV. Through the peer to peer education model, 16 adolescent mentors (8 boys, 8 girls) were trained to facilitate SRHR\u002FGBV\ndiscussions with 8 adolescent groups (80 youth total). Three groups were trained (60 women and 60 men) on the Engaging men approach to transform social norms. GBV case management services reached 77 survivors with a survivorcentred approach, offering psychosocial care, medical referral, and legal aid.\n\nRESULT 3  West Africa regional bodies, including WAHO and the Ouagadougou Partnership, demonstrate increased accountability for SRHR for women and girls in humanitarian and fragile settings\n\n- IRC held a series of stakeholder consultations on SRHR in emergency contexts, discussing with multilateral organisations, development partners, regional institutions, international and local NGOs, civil society organisations and ministries of health. The results of these consultations showed that humanitarian actors still do not mainstream SRHR within emergency response, and this challenge is exacerbated by poor access to data for decision making. Results also demonstrated that there is a strong need for coordinated efforts on SRHR interventions in emergency contexts. Based on the recommendations that emerged from the consultations, IRC has planned to develop a regional SRHR platform with UNFPA regional office to launch a regional advocacy campaign to establish a biannual learning forum to strengthen countries' capacities on SRHR coordination mechanisms and to finalize a joint workplan with relevant stakeholders working on SRHR in emergency contexts.\n\nThe PRET programme developed by IRC has demonstrated promising results in its first year of implementation, mostly at activity level, while continuously adapting to the volatile humanitarian context across the four countries of intervention. In total, the project supported 38 health facilities and served a combined population of over 426 000 persons. The programme demonstrated progress on: i) capacity building with numerous trainings on SRHR and GBV that were provided to health providers ii) community based approaches by working closely with community based organisations on social norms iii) advocacy and system strengthening with the development of MISP plans in the countries. The programme successful provided comprehensive abortion care in Burkina Faso and Nigeria, exceeding initial targets through improved facility capacities, training in techniques, and increased awareness. Prenatal visits have significantly increased since the programmes launch (target achieved by 137% in Nigeria with 5464 prenatal visits organised) driven by robust community mobilization and growing
