MDIF also supports its portfolio media partners with specialist technical advice and assistance. \n\nThe primary purpose of the Amplify Asia programme is to strengthen the capacity of independent media in South and Southeast Asia by building their potential long-term sustainability to help them hold power to account and encourage the development of a well-informed and engaged civil society. The core components of the proposed programme are: coaching, specialist technical assistance, digital safety and security training and advice, gender mainstreaming and sub-grants. They will all be ongoing components throughout the five-year programme. The core of the programme is the provision of long-term business coaching to MDIF's media partners. While the coach works with the media partners on the development of an overall business strategy and various aspects of business development, some aspects of this require specialist help. The programme will provide this special technical assistance through the provision of the additional short-term specialist to address a particular need. The type of assistance can vary, from assistance to help with monetization of social media channels through to training on search engine optimization (SEO). Lastly, the sub-grants provision in the programme will allow MDIF to provide a modest funding pool that can be used to try out new business ideas of its media partners. These grants will be carefully integrated into the overall business capacity building work. Timeframes for the provision of digital safety and security assessments and training, as well as gender mainstreaming initiatives, will likewise be tailored to the specific needs of the media concerned. Another\npartner, based in Pakistan Hazara region  a context marked by rampant drug trade and escalating extremism in recent months  has made notable progress\nduring its short time in the program. They have expanded their audience and revenue streams while launching an internship initiative primarily for young women who would otherwise have little opportunity to enter the media sector. In Nepal, recent protests were covered by two regional media partners who stood out as among the few reliable sources of news amid widespread misinformation. One media owner was interviewed by international outlets as a trusted voice on the ground.\n\nThe growth rates of both revenue and audience have exceeded the targeted indicators, showcasing MDIF's expertise and experience in effectively supporting\nmedia organizations in 2024 and 2025, despite limited human resources and a slow programme
