The overall objective of the intervention was to improve access to quality physical rehabilitation services that are gender, age and disability (GAD) inclusive. Looking across the range of persons reached, among those in need of rehabilitation, caregivers, healthcare staff and referrals to other social services, the total number of beneficiaries reached 16,145. Of these, 34% were men, 46% women, 9% girls and 11% boys. \n\nIncreasing access to rehabilitation services\n\nAccording to the Final Narrative Report May 2020  December 2024, more than 10,700 persons with disabilities and conflict-affected individuals accessed physical rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics (P&O), and psychosocial support (PSS). In addition, over 5,300 caregivers received psychosocial support. Functional outcome assessments, introduced from 2021, show that over 90% of patients completing rehabilitation improved their independence, while 99% of caregivers reported reduced burden.\n\nStrengthened health system and partner capacity\n\nHI's reporting highlights that service delivery progressively transitioned to the Kurdish Red Crescent (KRC), thus promoting local ownership. Between 20222024, staff were trained in rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics (P&O), psychosocial support (PSS), and Gender-Age-Disability inclusion. The Rehabilitation Management System (RMS), introduced in 2023, improved planning and quality assurance. By the end of 2024, most rehabilitation centers were managed by KRC with HI in a technical support role.\n\nCommunity-level inclusion\n\nThe Final Narrative Report May 2020  December 2024 underlines that 22 persons with disabilities were trained as Inclusion Ambassadors, leading awareness efforts, and that an Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) was formally established in 2023. Feedback and Response Mechanisms (FRM) and community surveys informed adaptations, including adjustments in the scheduling of appointments and the establishment of a child-friendly rehabilitation space in 2024.\n\nUnexpected results\n\nHI's reporting throughout the activity period also includes unexpected results. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021) and also during periods of security-related access constraints (2022), HI and its partners showcased their agility and adaptability, finding ways to continue implementation through e.g., tele-rehabilitation and mobile teams. Another example of unexpected results is the fact that the above-mentioned OPD was also  recognized by local authorities, providing an institutional platform for advocacy beyond the projects original scope. Furthermore, HI has shared success stories highlighting how rehabilitation of an individual can have broader social impact on families and
