The programme\nhas achieved significant results and is in progress to achieive it's objectives.\nHowever, there has also been challenges, many in relation to the context of the\nclosing space for civil society. Overall, the programme's focus on human rights\nand opportunities for core support to civil society is assessed to have played a\nsignificant role in the context and contributes to creating some room for positive\nforces to work for changes in the long term.\nOne example of results achieved by implementing partners is the work of the\nwomen's rights organization Banteay Srey (BS). BS has, with the help of core\nsupport through Diakonia, succesfully worked to strengthen Cambodian\nwomen's rights at the local level where they, among other things, train local\ncontact persons (community facilitators) who work in close collaboration with\nfemale municipal officials responsible for issues relating to women and children.\nAn example of activities carried out is workshops with crosssectoral working\ngroups on genderbased violence with relevant actors at village, municipal,\ndistrict and provincial level, where one of the topics is the distribution of budget\nto survivors of genderbased violence. BS report that their longterm work with\ncapacity building of local authorities on gender equality has led to 22 of the 44\nmunicipalities in the provinces of Siem Reap and Battambang (targeted by their\nactivities) increasing their gender responsive budgets.
