For example, the communication outreach has worked well. Campaigns have been leading to a better outreach to the public, which have been able to be measured through social media tools. Moreover, clear results have been seen when it comes to knowledge on communication. The staff at KEPA have gotten increased knowledge of the importance of communication on social media. As an example of a result, an air pollution campaign was conducted, and increased the number of followers and interactions significantly. For example, on Facebook, the reach increased with 449.3%, showing the importance of good communication and what communication through social media can do\u002Fhelp achieve.\n\nEnvironmental Information Systems, EIS\n\nOne of the main results achieved in the aspect is the creation of a metadata portal. The metadata portal makes it possible for the public to access the data and information from KEPA. This is an important result, as it is one of the EU requirements, and since Kosovo is aiming to access the EU, the portal is crucial for the agency. Connected to this is also the fact that a person that would manage this new system was recruted during the end of the project, to keep developing its function and maintain the result. This was also achieved through raising the KEPA team's awareness of the importance of a meta-data system. Specific workshops targeted this area so that more than one person could benefit from the portal, and concretly use it. Moreover, this also contributed to the capacity building of the KEPA team, as the civil servants not only increased their awareness of a well functioned IT-system, it is also enhanced their contribution to the internal and external methods to gather data to the portal. The ability to use EIS is not only a matter of having a digital platform, it is also linked to how to coordinate internally and externally to make the data flow efficient. A well functioned EIS means that the whole organisation should be at place, to gathering data and document it. \n\nWater management\n\nIn the context of the water management, one of the first results achieved by SwEPA was that first-time data was developed for the Drini e Bardhe river. This contributed to enhanced knowledge at KEPA regarding what kind of pollution exists in the river, and it gave data for how the managing of the water pollution should be taken care of. It gave input to the long-term plan on how to remove the pharmaceutical contaminants from hospital waste water. Overall, the support in this context have helped lay a base and provide recommendations for continuous work with managing the water pollution and improve water quality in Kosovo.\n\nWithin this component KEPA was working closely with Dalarna County Administration Board, who is an expert Swedish Agency within this field.\n\nEnvironmental quality improvement measures\n\nIn this context, the overall aim was to offer hands-on assistance for implementation while ensuring alignment with global standards. Moreover, through cooperation between KEPA and the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL), studies were also carried out with much focus on air pollutants and emissions. The Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollution Interactions and Synergies (GAINS) model was used for doing the evaluation on this. Continuously, when the feasibility study was done a workshop was held and throughout the whole process of the study, several different stakeholders were involved which gave them more knowledge of the GAINS model. Overall, they gained more competence around what analytical and policy-making tools\u002Finstruments exist for addressing emissions, which helps them in the future with similar work and new studies.\n\nNational Parks\n\nUnder the National parks area, the main goal of this part of the project support was to promote socio-economic development and align the management of the parks with EU-standards and enhancing the governance.\n\nThe first very clear results are the cross-border cooperation between North Macedonia and Kosovo in the Sharri mountains. Through workshops and communication, the cooperation increased and there were many discussions on cooperation specifically when it comes to protection of the area and spatial planning. A second result was an increased competence regarding the EU Environmental legislation. This was done through an academy by SwEPA where people from the whole region's relevant agencies and organizations participated (they applied to attend the course). \n\nAnother accomplishment from the national park context is that a draft revised management plan for the Sharri National Park was done. Through this plan, input from stakeholders, new directives and experience form officials were taken into consideration, which made the management plan more relevant.\n\nOther studies that were conducted, to lead the development of national parks (especially Sharri National Park), are the \"Strategic Environmental Assessment Report for the Spatial Plan of Sharri National Park\", conducted by UN-Habitat who earlier had done this job for the other national park: Bjeshket e Nemuna - in accordance with the law. This plan describes the current situation and the characteristics of the environment at the park. It also sketches out the possible future trends, how the environmental conditions impact the park and states out mitigation measures - finalizing with recommendations.\n\nParallel to this a socio-economic study of fees for national parks was performed. The Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure had specifically asked for this study with focus on fees, as part of strengthening the protection with for instance more guards. The study is - while writing this - now being used, enhancing the knowledge for KEPA-team on how fees can and other actions can benefit the parks.
