The organisation has identified the following six broad research areas as focus for the coming three years: Natural Resource Management, Governance and Political Economy, Social Protection, Gender, Migration & Regional Cooperation and Constitutional Law. These thematic research areas are aligned with existing strengths and research capacity and also match the policy priorities identified in the Afghanistan Peace and Development Framework (ANPDF) from 2016. The research is also relevant to the overarching objective of Sweden’s cooperation with Afghanistan to contribute to democratic, peaceful and sustainable development, and long-term economic growth that benefits people living in poverty, and to several the cooperation strategy’s more specific objectives. The research will be conducted by both international and Afghan researchers.
