Through its programmes in development and emergency contexts, UNICEF reached nearly 513 000 children with disabilities worldwide.\n\nResult Area 2: Improved learning, skills, participation and engagement for all children and adolescents.\n- In 2024, 17.5 million children received individual learning materials through UNICEF support programmes, including 4.8 million in humanitarian settings, bringing the total number of children reached to 119 million since the beginning of the Strategic Plan 2022-2025 period.\n- In 2024, 31 % of 84 reporting countries had an effective teacher development system while 57 % had an effective learning assessment system. Both require acceleration to meet the UNICEF Strategic Plan targets for 2025.\n- The percentage of countries with more than 60 % of children reaching the minimum proficiency in reading and mathematics remains low in early grades, end of primary and end of lower secondary education (e.g., 8 % in the end of lower secondary education). It will be difficult to achieve the 2025 target milestone of 54 % and 2030 target of 100 %.\n- In 2024, 42 % of UNICEF supported countries reported institutionalizing holistic skills development for adolescents and youth.\n- In 2024, 44 % of 90 reporting countries established gender-responsive systems for learning and skills development. It will be difficult to achieve the target of 78 % in 2025.\n- UNICEF supported 69 % of the more than 120 reporting countries to develop strong systems and deliver quality pre-primary education in 2024.\n- In 2024 UNICEF worked with 92 countries in 2024 to strengthen national secondary education systems and create multiple flexible learning pathways for adolescents such as bridging, accelerated and catch-up programmes. These interventions aim to reintegrate out-of-school young people into learning and improve their employability by integrating comprehensive skills development into curricula, including technical and vocational education and training (TVET).\n- In 2024, UNICEF supported governments to integrate mental health and psychosocial support policies and service delivery (MHPSS) in schools and other learning spaces. Between 2022 to 2024 approximately 2 million children and young people benefited from UNICEF supported school-based MHPSS interventions.\n\nDigital Learning:\n- UNICEF provided support to 18.3 million children (half of them girls) with access to education through digital platforms, bringing the cumulative total to 113 million children since 2021.\n- In 2024, 26 % of 105 reporting countries established effective system for digital learning solutions.\n- To bridge learning barriers, UNICEF worked with partners to ensure materials are inclusive and accessible to all children  including those with disabilities through initiatives such as Accessible Digital Textbooks (ADT).
